Lack of blacktop on rural roads in Bajura causes hardship for locals during rainy season

Bajura: Locals in Bajura have been facing severe difficulties in commuting and transporting essentials during the rainy season due to the absence of blacktop on rural roads.
Though the roads were constructed in 2075 BS, they remain unpaved, leading to recurring blockages and collapses during even light rainfall. Ram Bahadur Budha, a resident of Khaptad Chhededah Rural Municipality, shared that while unpaved roads are somewhat manageable in winter, they become nearly impassable during the monsoon, disrupting daily life and essential transport.
The problem is widespread across villages such as Himali, Jagnath, Swamikartik Khapar, Budhinanda, Badimalika, Gaumul, Budhiganga, Triveni, and Khaptad Chhededah, many of which have only recently gained access to road networks.

Bisu Nath, Vice-Chairman of Khaptad Chhededah Rural Municipality, stated that the local government lacks the necessary budget for blacktopping the roads. However, he informed that work has commenced on blacktopping a seven-kilometer stretch connecting Naina, Sudara, and Maitola villages in Ward No. 6 with support from the provincial and federal governments. He added that additional funding has been requested from higher levels of government for further road upgrading.
