Bhim Rawal set to announce future plans after expulsion from CPN-UM
Dhangadhi, December 30, 2024 – Bhim Rawal, the veteran political leader and former vice-president of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), is poised to take a significant step following his recent expulsion from the party.
Rawal is set to hold a press conference on Wednesday, January 17, at 1:00 PM, where he will outline his next course of action, including whether he intends to form a new political party.
The announcement will come after Rawal was expelled from the CPN-UML secretariat meeting on December 27, leaving him without party affiliation. Rawal, who has been a prominent figure in the UML for nearly five decades, had previously contested KP Sharma Oli for the chairmanship during the party’s 10th Congress held in Chitwan in 2078. Since that contest, however, Rawal’s role within the party had become increasingly sidelined.
Govind Duwal, Rawal’s aide, confirmed that the upcoming press conference will provide clarity on the leader’s next steps. Duwal stated that Rawal is considering forming a new party and will discuss this possibility with the media, along with his broader political intentions.
Rawal’s expulsion from the party has sparked debates within political circles, with supporters and detractors alike weighing in on the implications of his departure.
Rawal, who hails from Acham district in the far western region of Nepal, has long been seen as a rising leader in national politics. As the political landscape continues to evolve, all eyes will be on Rawal as he announces whether he will continue his political journey within the CPN-UML, or chart a new course independent of his former party.
