21-year-old Dhangadhi student dies after falling from Seti dam in Pokhara
Dhangadhi: A 21-year-old student from Dhangadhi has died after falling from the Seti Dam near Diphousing, Pokhara Metropolitan City-16.
Sangam Poudel, a student of Western Engineering Campus (WRC) Lamachaur, had been residing in a tent near the campus in Lamachaur, Pokhara-19. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening around 7:20 pm.
Upon receiving information about a person falling into the Seti Dam, a rescue team from the Armed Police Force, Kalika Battalion, Kaski, was immediately deployed, said DSP Rajan Lal Shrestha, the battalion's information officer.
A specialized disaster management team comprising nine members, including four divers, recovered Poudel's body from the river within 20 minutes. The body was transported to Manipal Teaching Hospital for postmortem.
