Five from Sudurpaschim among seven Nepalis killed in Indian train accident
Dhangadhi: Seven Nepali citizens, including five from Sudurpaschim Province, lost their lives in a tragic train accident in India.
The incident occurred in Pachora, Pardhade Taluka, Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, where individuals were run over by a train. The victims include four residents of Achham, one from Kailali, and two others whose addresses are yet to be confirmed.
The deceased from Achham are Nandaram BK of Panchadeval Binayak Municipality-4, his wife Maisara, their son Himu, and 60-year-old Jayakala Kami of Kamalbazar Municipality-4, Chalsa. Kamala Bhandari, 43, of Mohanyal Rural Municipality-6, Solta, Kailali, also lost her life.
Additionally, Radheshyam Radh of Banke and Lachchiram Pasi from Narayanpur are among the victims. Four other Nepalis—Hujla Sawant and Dharma Bahadur Sawant of Mangalsen, Achham, along with Deepak Thapa and Manju Pariyar of Dailekh—are undergoing treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
The accident unfolded on Wednesday evening when passengers of the Pushpak Express, traveling from Lucknow to Mumbai, jumped off the train in panic after spotting smoke emanating from the wheels. The commotion occurred in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, where passengers, fearing a fire, exited the moving train and were struck by the Karnataka Express, which was traveling at high speed in the opposite direction.
Indian media reported that 12 people lost their lives in the incident, including seven Nepalis. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the tragic accident.
