Agriculture as a pathway to prosperity: Chief Minister Shah
Bhajani: Chief Minister of the Far West Region, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has emphasized that linking the nation's economy to the agricultural sector can significantly contribute to the country’s prosperity.
Speaking at the first annual general meeting of the Vani Irrigation Water Consumer Association in Joshipur Municipality-4, Kailali, Chief Minister Shah stressed the importance of commercializing agriculture and integrating it with economic systems.
“Agriculture in the region requires encouragement and support,” Shah said. “If the agricultural products from here can reach international markets, it will greatly contribute to national prosperity.” He highlighted the need for state support in providing subsidies on interest, fertilizers, seed production, and marketing to assist farmers.
Chief Minister Shah also noted that the state government is allocating budgets to improve irrigation facilities for cultivable land. He assured that efforts are being made to ensure timely access to fertilizers, easing past challenges faced by farmers. “The management of fertilizers has seen some improvement,” he added. “The state government is working to develop the agriculture sector and provide necessary support to farmers.”
Former Agriculture Minister Kailash Choudhary echoed these sentiments, pointing out the recurring issues of food shortages among farmers. He emphasized the need for coordination among all three levels of government to expand irrigation access and promote long-term agricultural development.
Both leaders called for a collective effort to ensure that irrigation reaches farmlands and to position agriculture as a cornerstone of the nation’s economic growth.
