Kanchanpur: Public representatives and office bearers in Krishnapur Municipality of Kanchanpur will face a suspension of services and benefits if they fail to enroll their children in community schools.

According to Acting Chief Administrative Officer Prem Bahadur Bista, those holding public office—including elected officials, schoolteachers, and employees—must enroll their children or immediate family members in local community schools. Failure to comply will result in a halt to their service-related facilities, and in some cases, disqualification from municipal activities. "Officers and members of the school management and teacher-parent committees are also included in this directive," Bista said. “Non-compliance may lead to the suspension of benefits and even removal from responsibilities.”

This decision was recently made during a municipal executive meeting. Krishnapur Mayor Hemraj Ojha confirmed that official letters detailing the decision and its implications have been dispatched to schools and concerned individuals.

The directive follows a discussion between municipal leadership and local student organizations. The Nepal Students' Union, ANNFSU, Akhil Krantikari, and the Independent Students' Group have all expressed their support for the initiative, encouraging broader participation in public education reform.

The student organizations have also called on political parties, journalists, social workers, and other active community members to enroll their children in community schools and support the campaign for strengthening public education.
