Funds mobilized to support Jaigad Bazaar fire victims in Achham

Dhangadhi: Various agencies and individuals have begun mobilizing support for the victims of the recent fire in Jaigad Bazaar, Achham. Contributions are pouring in from the state government, local levels, political parties, and individuals to assist those affected.

The Sudurpaschim State Government has decided to provide Rs 50 lakhs in relief to the fire victims. Additionally, Bannigadhi Jaigad Rural Municipality has committed Rs 600,000 for immediate support. The CPN (UML) Achham has announced a contribution of Rs 111,000, while the Nepali Congress Achham has pledged Rs 100,000.

Panchadeval Binayak Municipality has also announced Rs 100,000 in support. Similarly, Padam Bahadur Bohora, Mayor of Mangalsen Municipality, has committed to donating one month’s service facilities. Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi has handed over a check worth Rs 151,000. Journalist Dhanraj Saud has pledged Rs 10,000 to those who helped demolish houses to prevent the spread of the fire.

According to Bannigadhi Jayagarh Rural Municipality, 35 shops in 23 houses were destroyed in the fire that broke out last Tuesday night. The estimated loss is over Rs 70 million, although detailed assessments are still underway.

The rural municipality has already provided immediate relief and is coordinating with the government and other sectors for long-term rehabilitation efforts. Rural Municipality Chair Tek Bahadur Saund confirmed that while aid announcements have been made, the funds from the provincial government are yet to be transferred.

The fire was brought under control with the joint efforts of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and locals, using fire engines from Mangalsen Municipality.
